Playback with Flash
If your digital signage solution supports Flash, you can run Screenfeed content. We'll provide you a Flash file that is sized for your screen or zone. You schedule this file in a playlist and when the file plays it connects to our service over the internet and displays the latest news, weather, trivia, events, tweets, etc on your screen. No need to update the file, it will always grab the latest content each time it plays.
How it Works
When the file runs it will connect to our service with a subscription key embedded in the Flash file, based on the key, the correct content is sent back in the format needed and then displayed - often rotating the items in the feed for as long as you have scheduled the file to play.
A typical use of the file will be to play a Screenfeed channel for a brief period, show other content and then come back to the feed. Each time the Flash file is shown on screen it will need to re-connect to our service to show content as Flash cannot store content on a drive. In most cases the Flash file is set to playback the content in random order so that different content is shown each time.
The Flash delivery method works great for our News-in-Pictures, Weather Graphics, Traffic and many of our Infotainment channels, but is not an option for video content due to the download time needed for large video files. For video delivery, check our other delivery options.
Custom Layouts
Most of our content is available standard in 4:3, 16:9 and sometimes 9:16 - but with Flash we can accommodate unique sizes just by customizing the Flash file. For instance a weather bar that runs along the bottom of your screen, or a list of local news and events on a sidebar. Many customers have developed their own ways of presenting our content feeds, but if you need a customized layout we can provide it.

Error Handling
Our Flash presentation files have built-in error handling. In a case of an error connecting to our feed or a lack of an internet connection our Flash files can play any custom message or animation embedded in the file. Alternatively it can initiate a script that will move you to the next item in your playlist (depending on software compatibility).
Managing Content Download and Playback
Each time the Flash file loads on screen it will download the latest content over the internet connection. In most cases the first image or information has loaded within a second, but depending on the internet connection and content to download it may be a few seconds until the first item in the feed is ready to play. While the first item plays any other items in the feed download in the background and are ready to play when their time arrives.
To handle any delay at the start of the feed - a few Screenfeed customers choose to take advantage of the "pre-loader" feature in our Flash file. This feature allows us to display any message until the first image is ready to play - this could be an intro animation such as "Local Weather Forecast" or a network ID spot embedded into the Flash file. Have us design it for you or supply your own.
